Consumers have until Sunday to get on the next do-not-call list that's supposed to minimize the number of telemarketing phone calls received at home or on a cell phone in Wisconsin.

If you wait until Monday, your number won't be on the list until next April.
Registration for the free list, sponsored by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, is required every two years if you want to be included.

To sign up, call toll-free (866) 966-2255 seven days a week, 24 hours a day. You can also go online at this Web site: nocall.Wisconsin.gov.
Currently, 1.4 million phone numbers are on the list, including more than 92,000 cell phone numbers.

Residents can sign up a cell phone from any area code - even one from out of state - but must provide a Wisconsin ZIP code.

Wisconsin's No Call List FAQ

Wisconsin's No Call List became effective January 1, 2003. Signing up identifies you as someone who does not wish to receive telemarketing calls. It's free and available for residential telephone customers in Wisconsin. Your number will remain on the List for two years. Adding your phone number to the List will help reduce (but not eliminate) telemarketing calls. Effective June 6, 2008, Wisconsin residents can add their mobile telephone numbers to the List.

The updated No Call List is given to registered telemarketers quarterly. Therefore, it may take 30 to 120 days for your number to get to telemarketers.
